White to pale yellow crystals, odorless. Insoluble in water, soluble in organic solvents (such as chloroform, toluene, ethanol, dimethylformamide, etc.).

Uses: Intermediate in organic synthesis; used in antifouling coatings for ships, as well as in bactericidal applications for underwater protection of fishing nets, buoys, and port facilities. Can substitute formaldehyde as a preservative and antifungal agent for wood; additive for antioxidants and flame retardants; plastic additive.
