Description of High purity 99.5% Lithium Bromide CAS:7550-35-8
White crystals with a slightly bitter taste. Hygroscopic. Loses one molecule of water of crystallization at 44°C and becomes anhydrous at 160°C. Easily soluble in water, soluble in ethanol. Its aqueous solution is neutral or slightly alkaline to litmus paper. Hot concentrated solutions can dissolve cellulose.

Also used in the photographic industry and in analytical chemistry. Can also serve as a pharmaceutical intermediate.
